Awards are always lovely to receive, but this one feels particularly special because it comes from within the financial planning profession and, importantly, I was nominated by my peers.
To be recognised by people who understand this profession, the responsibility that comes with it, and the work involved in trying to move it forward means a great deal to me.
Throughout my career, I’ve believed that financial planning should be about far more than investments, pensions and tax.
At its best, financial planning is about helping people make better decisions with their money so they can live the life they want. It is about providing clarity when things feel complicated, reassurance when markets or circumstances are uncertain, and helping people focus on what really matters to them and their families.
But I’ve also always felt a responsibility to contribute beyond Lexington. Whether through coaching other financial planners, sharing ideas, speaking, writing, mentoring, or simply trying to raise standards, I’ve wanted to play a small part in making financial planning a better profession for the people who work in it and, most importantly, for the clients we all serve.
That’s why receiving an award that recognises contribution to the profession feels so meaningful.
Of course, no recognition like this belongs to one person alone. I’m incredibly fortunate to have a wonderful team at Lexington, fantastic professional colleagues and, above all, clients who have placed their trust in us over many years.
There is still so much we can do to help people understand their money, make better decisions and use their wealth to create the lives they really want.
I genuinely believe the future of true financial planning is incredibly bright. We’ve come a long way, but in many ways, we’ve only just begun.
Thank you to everyone who nominated me, supported me and has been part of the journey. It really does mean a great deal.
Warren
