According to the World Wealth Report 2012 from Capgemini and RBC Wealth Management, the wealth of the world’s richest people rebounded last year, surging by ten per cent to a new record of $46.2 trillion (£29.5 trillion), a report out yesterday showed.
High net worth individuals numbered 12m people, globally, last year. The UK population of HNWs rose 5.4 per cent to 465,000 in 2012.
For the purposes of the report HNW individuals are defined as those with 1 million US dollars or more at their disposal for investing.
The reversal in fortunes follows a dip in 2011 when the wealth of high net worths fell 1.7 per cent.
The UK is the fifth biggest market globally for high net worth individuals, with a combined fortune of $1.6 trillion.
