The overall rate of divorce in the UK trended lower between 2000 and 2011 (the latest dates the Office of National Statistics has made available). In 2000, there were 12.7 divorces or annulments per 1,000 married people. By 2011 that rate had fallen slightly to 10.8 per 1,000. As they often do, Baby Boomers bucked the trend. The divorce rate for over 50’s has trended higher over the last few years, creating a new generation of ‘silver singletons’ about town. (more…)
